Renata Romain

Documentary filmmaker and media producer from New York City.

She creates films that strive to celebrate the marginalized, and amplify the voices of underrepresented communities by sharing their untold stories and offering new perspectives on familiar subjects. Her creative aesthetic seeks to strike a balance between documenting reality and honoring the dramatic art of cinema as seen in her short films Homeless Hotel, & A Hoop Dream Deferred.

Renata has worked in media for nearly two decades. Her previous work include television and radio programming (Court TV) and is best known for her work as morning show host on Sirius XM's Hip Hop Nation from 2007 - 2017, where she honed her interviewing skills and attracted some of the most influential figures, from music superstars to Hollywood A-listers.

Renata believes in using the power of non-fiction film to entertain, inform and empower. She formed the production company Romain Creative Media in 2015. She has a masters degree in documentary film from New York University.
